Who Do You Say You Are?
Who do you say you are? This question digs deeper than what others perceive about you. It touches the core of your identity, influenced by your internal dialogue. The words we say about ourselves are more powerful and significant than the labels others might assign to us. Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” This verse underscores the power of our thoughts in shaping our identity and destiny.
The Power of Self-Perception
Our internal dialogue can be a reflection of God’s truth or the enemy’s lies. The mind is a battlefield where the enemy seeks to plant seeds of doubt, fear, and insecurity. If left unchecked, these negative thoughts can overshadow the truth of who God says we are. This is why it’s crucial to constantly monitor and filter our thoughts through the Holy Spirit.
The Danger of Negative Self-Talk
Negative self-talk is dangerous because it contradicts God’s Word and undermines His creation. When we think less of ourselves, we essentially reject God’s craftsmanship. Everything God created is beautiful, blessed, and amazing. Ephesians 2:10 affirms this by stating, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Believing God’s Truth Over the Enemy’s Lies

It’s essential to take an internal inventory of our thoughts. Are they negative or aligned with God’s truth? If they are negative, it’s time to root them out by the power and blood of Jesus. Philippians 4:8 provides guidance, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
You Have the Mind of Christ
As believers, we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16 declares, “For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” This means we can think, act, and live according to God’s will, reflecting His thoughts and purposes in our lives.
