Expect the Unexpected from a Loving Father
As children of God, there is one fundamental truth we must hold onto: God loves us immensely and unconditionally. His love is everlasting and unwavering, and nothing can separate us from it. This love is not merely a fleeting emotion but an enduring promise. The Bible captures this beautifully in Jeremiah 31:3, “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.'”
Understanding this love is crucial for our spiritual journey. God’s love is the bedrock of our faith, the anchor in our storms, and the comfort in our trials. But how do we know this love so intimately? It is through the sacrificial act of Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus, the Son of God, bore our sins, suffered, and died so that we might have life and access to the Father.
Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” This profound act of love opened the door for us to approach God without the need for animal sacrifices. Jesus’s sacrifice was once for all, and it covered every sin—past, present, and future.
This act of love not only reconciles us with God but also grants us the confidence to approach His throne. Hebrews 4:16 encourages us, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” We no longer need to walk with our heads down, burdened by sin and shame. Instead, we can walk with confidence, knowing that we are loved, forgiven, and valued by our Heavenly Father.
The cornerstone of our faith is found in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This verse encapsulates the essence of God’s love—a love so profound that it sacrificed the most precious for the sake of humanity. This love is our assurance that God’s intentions for us are always good.
As children of God, we should expect the unexpected from our loving Father. This expectation is not based on a sense of entitlement but on a deep understanding of His nature. God’s provision is evident in nature itself. Consider the birds of the air, as Jesus pointed out in Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” If God cares for the birds, how much more will He care for His children?
Every day is an opportunity to experience God’s blessings and favor. Waking up with a heart of gratitude and an attitude of expectancy sets the tone for our day. When we start our day acknowledging God’s love and thanking Him for His goodness, we position ourselves to receive His unexpected blessings. Say to the Lord each morning, “Lord, I thank you for today. I expect an amazing blessing from You because I know You love me and have great plans for me.”
Jeremiah 29:11 reassures us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God’s plans are always for our good, and His love guarantees that those plans will never be derailed.
So, beloved friends, let us walk each day with our heads held high, confident in the love of our Heavenly Father. Expect the unexpected from God, for He delights in surprising His children with His goodness. His love is a daily gift, an everlasting promise, and a constant source of strength. Embrace it, live it, and let it transform your life. God loves you, and His plans for your life are magnificent and unchanging. Wake up each day with the joyful expectation of His blessings and watch how He unfolds His marvelous plans in your life.
