LORD, I BELIEVE! HELP MY UNBELIEF.

Friends I know that there are times in our lives when we do not have the words to express the pain that we feel when we find ourselves amid trials and tribulations.

But the good news is that JESUS never condemns us for feeling overwhelmed but he wants us to cast all our burdens onto him.

JESUS does not want us to remain in that place of sorrow or sadness. He wants us to remember that he loves us and he wants us to be free from anything that has been holding us bound that has come to steal our joy.

In our journey and walk of faith, there are moments when doubts and uncertainties creep in, clouding our vision and shaking our convictions

We find ourselves standing at the intersection of belief and doubt, echoing the plea of the man in the Gospel of Mark: “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). This heartfelt cry encapsulates the struggle many face in their walk with God – the tension between faith and doubt, trust and uncertainty.

One thing to remember is that It is natural to encounter seasons of doubt and confusion. Even the most devout individuals in the Bible faced moments of uncertainty. Abraham, the father of faith, questioned God’s promise of offspring (Genesis 17:17). Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, doubted the resurrection until he saw Jesus with his own eyes (John 20:24-29). These stories remind us that doubts are not indicative of a lack of faith but rather a part of our human experience.

Yet, in our doubts, we’re called to hold onto God, even when we don’t fully understand or have clarity on the situations we’re facing. The Bible offers us numerous scriptures to encourage us in our journey of faith:

1. **Proverbs 3:5-6** – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

2. **Isaiah 41:10** – “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

3. **Romans 8:28** – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

4. **Hebrews 11:1** – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

5. **Jeremiah 29:11** – “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

6. **Philippians 4:6-7** – “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

7. **2 Corinthians 4:16-18** – “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

When doubts assail us, we can turn to the Holy Spirit for help. The Spirit intercedes for us in our weakness (Romans 8:26) and guides us into all truth (John 16:13). By seeking the Holy Spirit’s assistance, we invite God into our struggles, allowing Him to strengthen our faith and grant us clarity we need.

In conclusion, remember that it’s okay to acknowledge our doubts and uncertainties. What matters is how we respond to them. Instead of allowing doubts to derail our faith, let us echo the prayer of the man in Mark 9:24, trusting that God will meet us in our weakness and strengthen our faith. Let us cling to His promises, knowing that He is faithful to fulfill them. May we walk in the assurance that God is with us, even amid our doubts.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I come before you with a heart filled with both belief and unbelief. Help me to trust in you with all my heart, even when doubts assail me. Strengthen my faith and grant me clarity in times of uncertainty. Holy Spirit, intercede for me and guide me into all truth. Help me to fix my eyes on you and your promises, knowing that you are faithful to fulfill them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

At His Feet,

Ijeoma
